Hey all! Over the next few weeks, we're going to be introducing our team here at Smart Flow to you! We're giving you a sneak peak about who's on the other end of the meetings, the emails, the customer support and the conference and implementation crew!
Without further ado, the first person is actually yours truly.
Full name: Katharina Milcke
Role in the Smart Flow Team: Customer Support and Blogger Extraordinaire. Some of you will know me from the blogging section, others will know me from my emails back to your support queries!
Time with Smart Flow: I've been working with Smart Flow for almost a year now!
Now, for the good stuff!
1. Where are you from originally and have you lived anywhere else?
I'm actually originally from a small town in the southern part of Bavaria, Germany. It's near Nuremburg. I lived there for the first four years of my life, then lived in Tianjin, China (100 km outside of Beijing) until I was 9 and a half, then moved to Oakville, Ontario, Canada. 2.5 years later I moved back to my hometown in Germany for 2 more years, then moved to Newmarket, Ontario, Canada (45 minutes north of Toronto) to permanently stay in Canada in 2003. From there, I moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 2010 to persue a Bachelor of Journalism, stayed to attend Veterinary Technician college, and recently moved to Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. (Or, as I like to call it, on the wrong side of the river from Ottawa).
2. What is your favourite thing about the veterinary industry?Probably that all the technicians I've met have a very similar sense of humor to me. I've never met a group of brutally honest, hilarious, sarcastic, cursing-every-second-word people as my colleagues, both here at Smart Flow and in the Emergency Hospital I work in. We all just appreciate having a good laugh, and know that humor can get you through the tougher aspects of our job.
3. Name your top 3 bucket list items.Oh boy. Just 3? I have so much more on my list that I want to do! Probably.. and mind you, this is in no particular order:
1- Do more world travelling - specifically go backpacking around Europe and visit Australia and New Zealand.
2- Be covered in 6 week old Golden Retriever puppies
3- Learn French fluently. (Moving to Quebec has helped! I swear I speak it more now!)
