Precision, accuracy and safety are all things veterinary technicians strive for when monitoring anesthesia. The truth is, we have bad handwriting and are usually juggling many things at once to be completely focused on the patient at all moments. The great news is that the new wave of veterinary anesthetic monitoring covers all of these problems. So what exactly is this new wave of monitoring?
Two anesthetic monitoring companies, Digicare and Bionet, have integrated with Smart Flow’s Electronic Anesthetic Sheet to provide accuracy in patient monitoring.
Here’s how it works:
First, you’ll need the anesthetic monitor from either Digicare and Bionet, along with a subscription to Smart Flow (hint: sign up for a free 14-day trial to check it out).
Then, once the systems are connected, you’ll find yourself in a world of complete digital monitoring. The data from the anesthetic monitor will automatically graph onto your electronic anesthetic sheet.
In surgery, you’ll no longer needs pens, paper or highlighters. There’ll be nothing to input and nothing to write on. In fact, you’ll gain more time to physically monitor your patients and fix the pesky beeping SP02.
Plus, the Smart Flow Electronic Anesthetic Sheet is pretty amazing. You can save templates, have accurate doses for drugs (including emergency doses) and chart additional vitals that are not part of the anesthetic machine (i.e. MM and CRT).
Tell me this isn’t the wave of the future?
