Are you an ambitious veterinary practice owner with great plans for the future? We know that competition is tough with new veterinary clinics popping up all the time, but luckily there are few things you can do to help your practice stand out from the bunch (and they don't have to cost a fortune!).
1. Offer more than "just" medicine
Even if your team members are performing the medical side of things flawlessly, most owners (especially millennials) are interested in more than prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Introducing grooming and boarding services has the potential to attract many new clients. People love a "one stop shop" and it gives you the opportunity to strengthen the bond they have with your practice.
2. Re-do your staff room
This might seem like an odd suggestion for becoming a top notch clinic, but it all comes back to happy staff. If your staff room is a dark closet-sized space with old furniture covered in mystery stains, think about sprucing it up. A dedicated area for staff members to keep and prepare food (separate from the lab fridge!), have a real lunch break, and make coffee means more to your staff than you realize. Equip this ‘employee corner of convenience’ with a small kitchen, a washing machine and a dryer, refrigerator, microwave, a few tables and comfy chairs and you're all set. Rested employees (and employees who feel valued) have more energy to do good work and help make your practice the best around.
3. Let go of all that paper
It's no surprise that technology is making its way into our day-to-day lives, and veterinary clinics are no different. Becoming a paperless practice will not only revolutionize your team's work, but also impress your clients. Paperless practices seem more up-to-date and modern, which clients love!
4. Give more access
In a world where information is constantly at our fingertips, waiting for lab results or a call with an update is not something clients enjoy. Allowing your clients access to portals where they can see their pet's lab results is a game-changer. Eliminating on-hold wait times is another seemingly small but crucial client-facing change you can make. Just think: where are the areas clients are waiting or lacking information? If you're the only practice in your area addressing these areas, which will undoubtedly set you apart from clinics around you.
Do you consider your practice to be top-notch? How so?
